Georgia Democratic gubernatorial candidate Keisha Lance Bottoms held a roundtable on veterans’ health care in Richmond Hill. Local veterans and congressional candidates participated in the roundtable, sharing their experiences and stories with mental health care and veterans services in Georgia. Ms. Bottoms, the former Atlanta mayor, asked questions about what she could do in her potential capacity as governor to better connect veterans with adequate care in the Peach State. She thanked the veterans for their service and called them the “backbone of who we are as a country.” She also briefly took questions from reporters on a range of subjects. She would go on to face businessman Rick Jackson (R) in the general election, which the nonpartisan Cook Political Reporter with Amy Walter rated a “Toss up.”
